Virginia Hunt Newman
Often called "The Mother of Infant Swimming".
Virginia pioneered and focused worldwide attention on the non-forceful, non-traumatic method of teaching infants and preschool-age children to swim, earning great respect as an innovator in the field.
She hosted some of the earliest national conferences focused on baby swimming and was the swim teacher to the children of many of Hollywood's stars of TV and screen in the 1960s such as Bing Crosby, John Wayne, and Sonny & Cher.
VH Newman Award 2025
The 2025 Virginia Hunt Newman Award Dr. Ludmilla Rosengren of Sweden, has over thirty years experience in swim teaching.
Ludmilla started a swimming school - Linnéas Simskola - which since 1993 has been centered at her own swimming facility for training of teachers as well as for babies and young children.
She founded the Swedish Babyswim Association and authored Babysimboken (The Baby Swim Book).
